Forging technology of special steel balls for mines

The traditional technology of steel balls for mines requires cutting materials according to size, heating them to a certain temperature with coal or gas, hammering with air, heat treatment, and product inspection. Traditional technology has many disadvantages, such as low production efficiency and productivity, large individual differences caused by artificial control of product quality, serious environmental pollution, high labor intensity of workers, and serious harm to workers’ health caused by heat and noise radiation.

The oblique tie technology is a rapid development in the forged steel ball industry. However, there are many defects in the process of oblique binding, which are mainly manifested in surface quality and roundness. The surface of the steel ball produced by the oblique binding process has defects such as clamping, lack of meat, over-burning, bulging, and large loss of roundness. Moreover, when the diameter of the steel ball is greater than 50mm, the various indicators of the mine-specific steel ball made with the oblique binding technology cannot meet the requirements of the relevant standards. Steel balls with a diameter greater than 90mm can no longer be produced by the oblique binding process.

Rotary cutting and forging technology: With the development of mining machinery in the world, the diameter of ball mills has become larger and larger. With the emergence of rolling mills, the demand for steel balls for mines has gradually changed from small diameters to large straight and large diameters. Automatic steel ball rolling and rolling production line technology adopts automatic feeding technology, intermediate frequency% 26 high-frequency induction furnace heating technology, rolling cutting and rolling machine technology, spiral isothermal machine technology, roller spiral hardening machine technology, automatic insulation barrel technology and other new technologies advanced equipment. The production efficiency is nearly 20 times higher than that of the traditional process, and the labor intensity and working environment of the workers have been greatly improved. Replacing coal and gas with advanced induction furnaces and heating can save energy and reduce consumption without causing environmental pollution. The surface quality and internal quality of the steel balls produced have exceeded the phase and gap standards, and the roundness, hardness, impact value and drop value have exceeded the national standards and regulations. In particular, the crushing of large diameter steel balls with a diameter of more than 100mm can only be forged with conventional air hammers.

The current production of special steel balls for mines with a diameter between 20 mm and 150 mm is a new rolling technology and a breakthrough in the manufacturing process of ball mill steel balls. It is gradually replacing cast steel balls.
